A CoinStats alternative that tracks your stocks too
CoinStats is built for crypto. Sonar puts your coins, stocks and ETFs in one portfolio, with social data next to every holding and read-only connections.
Updated October 27, 2026
CoinStats is one of the best-known crypto portfolio trackers. If most of what you own is crypto, it covers a lot of ground. If you also hold stocks or ETFs, or you want to see what the market is saying about each position, Sonar is built for that. Here is an honest comparison, so you can pick the one that fits.
What CoinStats does well
- Broad crypto coverage. CoinStats says it connects to 300 exchanges and wallets across 120 blockchains, and tracks DeFi positions in more than 10,000 protocols on over 50 chains.
- A generous free plan. The free Basic plan includes 10 portfolios and up to 20,000 transactions.
- Mobile apps. CoinStats has apps for iPhone and Android.
- AI tools inside the app. Paid plans add an AI agent and AI research features.
CoinStats suits people whose holdings are mostly crypto, spread across many exchanges, wallets and DeFi protocols.
Where Sonar is different
- Crypto and stocks in one place. Sonar tracks coins, stocks, ETFs and cash together, so your net worth is one number with one history. CoinStats' own site lists crypto, NFTs and DeFi; it doesn't list stock tracking.
- Social data next to every holding. On Starter, each stock and coin you hold shows mentions, engagement, sentiment, social dominance, discussion themes, top creators and news. It covers what you own, not the whole market, so the screen stays about your portfolio.
- Onchain activity for your coins. On Standard, the coins you hold show holders, transfers, supply concentration and network activity.
- Your portfolio in Claude and ChatGPT. Connect Sonar to Claude or ChatGPT through its MCP connector and ask about your holdings in plain language. There is also a REST API and a command-line tool (
npm install -g sonarfolio). - Read-only by design. Wallets connect by public address. US brokerages and crypto exchanges connect through Plaid on Starter, Standard and Premium, for investment data only; Sonar never asks for exchange API keys. See security.

When CoinStats is the better choice
- You hold crypto on exchanges or chains Sonar doesn't connect yet. Sonar connects exchanges only through Plaid, on Starter, Standard and Premium, and reads wallets on more than 50 networks; CoinStats lists many more integrations.
- You use DeFi heavily and want each protocol position tracked.
- You only hold crypto and want a native phone app now.
- You want many separate portfolios on a free plan.
When Sonar fits better
- You hold stocks or ETFs alongside crypto and want one net worth.
- You want to see what people are saying about the assets you own, in the same place as your positions.
- You want to ask Claude or ChatGPT about your actual portfolio, or pull it into your own scripts.
- You prefer a lower monthly price: Starter is $7 a month and Standard is $11. See pricing.
How to switch from CoinStats
- Connect what you can. Paste a public wallet address on any of more than 50 networks (Ethereum and other EVM chains, Solana, Bitcoin, XRP Ledger, Cardano and more) or an ENS name, or connect an exchange through Plaid on Starter, Standard and Premium. Free includes one wallet; Starter includes three connections, Standard five and Premium ten.
- Import the rest from a CSV. Export your holdings or transactions and upload them. Sonar reads common formats and has a simple paste-in format (symbol, quantity, cost basis). See importing a CSV.
- Add your stocks. Import a positions file from your broker, add them by hand, or connect a US brokerage on Starter, Standard or Premium.
Any position Sonar can't match to an asset is kept and flagged, not dropped, so you can see what still needs attention. You can look around first with the sample portfolio.
Questions
Is Sonar free?
Yes. Free covers your portfolio, live prices, performance and allocation, manual entry, CSV import and one connected wallet. Social data, alerts, AI access and brokerage and exchange connections start on Starter.
Does Sonar track DeFi and NFTs like CoinStats?
Sonar reads token balances in the wallets you connect. It doesn't break out positions inside DeFi protocols or track NFTs. If those matter most to you, CoinStats covers them in more depth.
Can Sonar see or move my funds?
It can see balances and history. It can't trade, withdraw or transfer. Wallets are read by public address, and brokerages and exchanges connect through Plaid for investment data only.
Which exchanges does Sonar connect to?
Sonar connects crypto exchanges through Plaid on Starter, Standard and Premium; which ones you can connect depends on Plaid's coverage. Sonar doesn't accept exchange API keys. For an exchange Plaid doesn't offer, import a CSV export.
Does Sonar track stocks?
Yes. Stocks and ETFs sit in the same portfolio as your coins. See the stock portfolio tracker and crypto portfolio tracker pages.
