A free portfolio tracker for stocks and crypto

Free has no trial period and needs no card. Track up to 10 holdings across stocks, ETFs, funds and coins, with live prices, time-weighted performance and allocation, for as long as you like.

Updated October 27, 2026

Plenty of portfolio trackers call themselves free and then stop working after two weeks. Sonar's Free plan is a plan, not a trial: it has no end date, doesn't ask for a card and keeps your portfolio when you never upgrade. Here's exactly what it includes, and where it stops.

What Free includes

  • Up to 10 holdings. A holding is one asset you own, however many accounts it sits in: Apple in two brokerage accounts counts once.
  • Stocks, ETFs, funds and crypto in one portfolio, with one net worth.
  • Live prices for every holding, with the 24-hour change. When a price is late or missing, Sonar says so instead of showing it as current.
  • Performance that's time-weighted, so deposits don't look like gains, compared with the S&P 500 and Bitcoin.
  • Allocation by holding, account and class.
  • Manual entry and CSV import from any broker, exchange or tracker, with presets for Koinly, CoinTracker, Delta and Kubera exports. See importing a CSV.
  • One connected wallet, read by public address on more than 50 networks and synced daily. See the crypto wallet tracker.
  • 100 API credits to try the MCP connector, REST API and command-line tool.
  • Every language and currency. Nine languages, with values shown in the currency you choose.

Who Free suits

  • You're starting out, or you hold a focused set of stocks, ETFs and coins.
  • You keep crypto in one self-custody wallet and want it valued next to your stocks.
  • You'd rather import a CSV from your broker every so often than connect the account.
  • You want to see how Sonar works with your own holdings before paying for anything.

If you hold more than 10 assets, Free keeps everything you've connected and counts it in your net worth, but adding new assets by hand stops at the limit.

How Free compares

Several trackers have a free tier with a holding cap; Sharesight and Snowball Analytics both stop at 10 holdings on their free plans. Others have no free plan at all, such as Kubera and Monarch. Ghostfolio is free if you host it yourself. The comparison page lists them side by side.

What sets Sonar's Free plan apart is the mix: stocks and crypto in one portfolio, a self-custody wallet read by address, and access from AI tools to try, all without a card.

Getting started

  1. Sign in with your email. Sonar sends a six-digit code; there's no password to create.
  2. Add what you hold. Pick popular assets, paste a wallet address or upload a CSV.
  3. Look around. Net worth, performance and allocation fill in as soon as your holdings are in.

FAQ

Is Sonar really free?

Yes. Free costs nothing for as long as you use it and has no trial period. Paid plans are optional.

Do I need a credit card?

No. You only enter payment details if you choose a paid plan.

Can I connect my brokerage on Free?

Brokerage and exchange connections through Plaid start on Starter. On Free, import your broker's CSV export instead.

What happens if I downgrade?

Your portfolio stays. Connected wallets keep syncing once a day; brokerage and exchange sync pauses until you're on a paid plan again.
